Monthly Meeting Minutes
October 15, 2015
Eleven (11) members and guests were present.
The regular monthly meeting of the East Hills Business Association was called to order by Vice President Kim Oleksa in President Larry Crespo’s absence. Pledge of Allegiance was not said.
Kim reviewed September’s minutes
The Treasurer Lynn Faint was not present therefore a balance was not reported for the checking account. The September statement showed a balance of $3,769.88.
The introduction of members took place.
Kim Oleksa reviewed Windber Medical/Research Centers Color Me Pink Run/Walk which will be held Oct. 24, 2015. Proceeds will benefit Patient Funding. She also discussed an upcoming local Celebrity Chef event held Nov. 12, 2015.
Missy Grouse stated she did not received the Remind notice for the meeting. Kim Oleksa will look into it.
Barb Foruntato made the suggestion to add into the by-laws a mandatory attendance clause. Suggestions will be discussed further next meeting when more members are present.
The annual Christmas party was discussed. Location suggestions and date preferences were requested. Suggestions where Nyko’s and Windber Medical Research Center. More information will follow.
Melinda Novak provided fliers regarding the Laurel Highlands Chapter of Penn State Alumni Association ZumbaThon which will be held October 24, 215 10am – 12 pm at TNT Cardio Club. All proceeds go to childhood cancer. Also requesting local businesses to donate baskets for a raffle.
Tara Connor discussed the opportunity to advertise in Johnstown Concert Ballet’s Nutcracker performance program. She discussed ad sizes/costs. Deadline is Oct. 31, 2015.
Windber Medical Research Center provided an interesting and informative tour of their research facility. They discussed how samples are obtained, stored and cataloged. They also demonstrated how samples/specimens are prepared, examined and studied. They also discussed their school programs/field trips.
