Monthly Meeting Minutes Nov. 17, 2016
Twenty-one (21) members and guests were present.
The regular monthly meeting of the East Hills Business Association was called to order by President Missy Grose. Missy requested approval of the October minutes, which were distributed to members present at the meeting.
The First Commonwealth Bank account balance was reported $3,198.79.
United Way of Laurel Highlands requested a donation for the Annual fundraiser as well as Highlands Community Library requested a donation. Both will be determined at the Jan. 2017 meeting.
A donation to Danceworks for $100 was presented to Rosemary Pawlowski at the meeting.
The annual Christmas Party will be held Monday, December 19th beginning 6:00p.m. at Bella Sicilia. Members are free and your Guest is $5.00. This will is a BYOB event. An optional gift exchange will be held, all exchange gifts should be of a $15 – $20 value.
Missy handed out the job descriptions for the Officer positions. The descriptions are also posted on the website. The new Officers will be elected in January 2017.
Rosemary Pawlowski, a consultant for non profits, spoke about Johnstown Concert Ballet/Danceworks. She discussed the history of the ballet school, the Company, and the newly formed Danceworks. While the new Danceworks building will house the ballet school, its focus will be on enriching the Regional area of Johnstown with innovative programs for all ages. One example is a program KAIROS Live!. This program supports individual and community well being for older adults and their inter-generational communities. Rosemary stated the biggest help/gift for non profits are support from local businesses is imparting their knowledge with the non profit. She also advised the Ballet School’s upcoming annual performance the Nutcracker will be held Dec. 2 & 3 at Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center.
